H.R.255 – To authorize the National Science Foundation to support entrepreneurial programs for women.

Brief

To the end of accomplishing the bill’s title the National Science Foundation is authorized to support entrepreneurial programs for women.

The bill is based on findings that women make up about 50% of the workforce but less than 25% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and that a low number of women who attain degrees in STEM areas work in STEM jobs.

The National Science Foundation is encouraged to promote entrepreneurial programs to recruit and support women and to extend their focus beyond the laboratory and into the commercial world.
