H.R.1467 To authorize the National Science Foundation to award grants to institutions of higher education to develop and offer education and training programs.
The national Science Foundation is authorized to award competitive grants for research towards improving health care information systems and related areas of information science.
Research efforts will include information studies, population informatics, translational informatics, data security, integrity and confidentiality.
Multidisciplinary Centers for Informatics Research involving universities and government laboratories are ordered as are NSF grants aiming to increase the number of students who pursue undergraduate or master’s degrees in information fields and to increase student experience in the field of information study. The NSF involvement also aims to establish degree and certification programs in the field.
