H.R.1002 To adjust the boundaries of Pisgah National Forest in McDowell County, North Carolina.

 

The US Forest Service is authorized to alter the boundaries of Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina to allow better access to the Catawba Falls. The boundary adjustment would add 88 acres to the Forest.

 

The acreage was purchased in the 1990s by the Foothills Conservancy. The Conservancy would like to sell the acreage to the Forest Service to be used for parking and trailhead expansion.

 

Sponsor:  Rep. Heath Schuler (NC-11th)

Vote: On motion to suspend the rules and pass the bill Agreed to by voice vote.

Cost to the taxpayers: CBO estimates that implementing H.R. 1002 would cost less than $1 million over the next year or two.

Earmark Certification:   H.R. 1002 does not contain any congressional earmarks, limited tax benefits, or limited tariff benefits as defined in clause 9(d), 9(e), or 9(f) of rule XXI of the Rules of the House Representatives.
